Detroit mayor charged in text-messaging sex scandal

DETROIT - The Wayne County prosecutor said Monday she is bringing perjury and other charges against Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former top aide.

The prosecutor, Kym Worthy, said Kilpatrick and one-time Chief of Staff Christine Beatty lied under oath during a whistle-blowers’ trial last summer when they denied having a romantic relationship.

A perjury conviction could bring up to 15 years’ imprisonment and force Kilpatrick to relinquish the mayor’s office.

He iilegaly fired two cops in order to cover up his affair, lied under oath about it, and possibly used taxpayer money to pay for the affair. This is not a private matter. This guy belongs in prison.
