A former Springfield tanning salon owner who secretly videotaped customers pleaded guilty to his crimes Monday in a Greene County court.

Brett Patrick Kent, 36, was sentenced to 16 years in state prison after admitting to 22 counts of second-degree invasion of privacy, a class D felony.

The pleas came as part of an agreement Kent reached with federal prosecutors, who secured a guilty plea from him in April for producing child pornography.

Under that agreement, Kent agreed to plead guilty to each of the 22 state charges.

Kent, former owner of 360 Degree Tan, used a hidden camera to secretly videotape at least 20 female customers, including seven minors, while they used tanning beds.

In December 2005, an employee of the tanning salon discovered video images of a customer in various stages of undress, including full nudity, on the business’s computer.

The employee reported what she’d found to police, who executed a search warrant and located a hidden camera.
